Too Small, Too Insignificant?

April 11, 2013

Saul replied, “But I’m only from the tribe of Benjamin, the smallest tribe in Israel, and my family is the least important of all the families of that tribe! Why are you talking like this to me?” 1 Samuel 9:21 (NLT)

Saul was talking to the seer (or prophet) Samuel. Saul was quite confused because Samuel was inviting him to eat with him and speaking grand things about him. A moment before Saul was not even sure if the seer would see him because he had nothing to offer. In Saul’s eyes, he was about as low as the dirt on the ground and had nothing to offer. Saul ended up being anointed as the King of Israel.

We frequently disqualify ourselves from God’s work because we measure ourselves by human standards. Often we forget our identity comes from Christ our King and we are part of His royal family. We let our size, financial or social status, or job disqualify us. Today, declare you will accept your position in the royal family and accept whatever task God has for you! You are His child so go do your Fathers work BOLDLY!

If you know someone who struggles with being from “the smallest tribe,” or “the least important family” share this with them. Remind them which “tribe” they belong to now, The Tribe of Judah!

Answer the call boldly today!
